You'll find a resource for my current and past musical sketches here including the acoustic / flamenco based / solo guitar (that's not really very flamenco-ish at all), From Home (guitar quartet with dance) and El Hombre Trajeado plus any other projects that come along.

Most of these projects have freely downloadable mp3's available. Why give it away? Two reasons. Firstly, because i can. Secondly, as a wise man once said "Obscurity is a far greater threat to authors and creative artists than piracy".

Most of the music is released under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-Share Alike 2.5 UK: Scotland License which basically means that you can remix, share, redistribute and reuse the music as long as you do the same with whatever you make. See the full license here.

I'm always up for doing live shows, contact me here if you'd like to book a show. Also, check out Will Play For Food if you fancy putting on a show in your own home.

Anyway, here's what's new :

Aidan Moffat / The One Ensemble

Sat 9th May 2009

the one ensembleTonight's show with Aidan Moffat & The Best Of's was really cool. They played their latest album, How To Get to Heaven From Scotland in it's entirety with some great new arrangements. Plus it's always nice hang out with Stevie, who was providing double bass for the evening. Malcolm Middleton also did a set of girl group covers as Chase Music which was very cool. I played ok, people certainly responded to it in a nice way. All in all, a good night.

My next show will be at Stereo in Glasgow on Wednesday 27th May supporting The One Ensemble. They always put on a really great, unpredictable live show with really beautiful instrumentation. I'm really excited to be sharing a stage with them.

Short notice show

Mon 27th April 2009

Drawing the ExperienceI'll be performing an entirely unamplified show at Mono in Glasgow this Wednesday (29th April) as part of Drawing The Experience by Jenny Soep.

Drawing The Experience is a new exhibition by an extremely talented illustrator by the name of Jenny Soep. Jenny does real time illustrations of musicians as they perform and has documented artists such as Bjork, Arab Strap, Alasdair Roberts, Goldfrapp, Massive Attack and Pharrell plus many more.

She'll be drawing my performance live whilst an animator creates a time lapse illustration of her drawing and projecting it as a backdrop. Should be pretty cool and it gives you something other than my ugly mug to look at (even if it is a picture of me).

The event runs between 6-8pm, also features a performance by Alan Bissett, is sponsored by Hinterland Festival and has free entry.

Aidan Moffat & The Best Of's

Thu 9th April 2009

Aidan MoffatI'm thrilled to announce that I'll be opening for Aidan Moffat & The Best Of's at Stereo in Glasgow on Friday 8th May.

I've been a big fan of Aidan since Arab Strap so it's a big deal for me, it should be a lot of fun.

You can get tickets in advance from Ticket Web.

New song

Sun 22nd March 2009

So i've been struggling to finish off the most recent batch of songs (as the two and a half month posting gap might suggest). I thought that it may be a good idea to set myself a one day time limit to write something totally new in an effort to get my creative juices going and this piece is the result. It was written yesterday and recorded today, i just finished mixing ten minutes ago.

It is called Go Quickly and is meant as a companion piece to Hey There Mr Bone.

Here's hoping that I can finish off the other three now :-)
