Hello

You'll find a resource for my current and past musical sketches here including the acoustic / flamenco based / solo guitar (that's not really very flamenco-ish at all), From Home (guitar quartet with dance) and El Hombre Trajeado plus any other projects that come along.
Most of these projects have freely downloadable mp3's available. Why give it away? Two reasons. Firstly, because i can. Secondly, as a wise man once said "Obscurity is a far greater threat to authors and creative artists than piracy".
Most of the music is released under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-Share Alike 2.5 UK: Scotland License which basically means that you can remix, share, redistribute and reuse the music as long as you do the same with whatever you make. See the full license here.
I'm always up for doing live shows, contact me here if you'd like to book a show. Also, check out Will Play For Food if you fancy putting on a show in your own home.
Anyway, here's what's new :
New download single
Tue 3rd March 2009
You can now purchase 2 live tracks from the Threads of Sound show that I did last November via iTunes, emusic and Resonance Music. The tracks are completely DRM free and fall under the same licencing terms as the rest of my recordings.
The songs are Bad Jiuchi and Mrs Saunders. Bad Jiuchi is an exclusive in that I don't plan on recording it so this is your only chance to get that particular song.
I'm pretty happy with how they turned out, Jim Brady did a great job recording and mixing and considering that it was my first show, they're sounding good.
So yeah, go spend your hard earned pennies :-)
last night / From Home shows
Sun 1st March 2009
Last night's show with Chris Corsano & Heather Leigh Murray Duo and Burnt Altar went well. Burnt Altar had some genuinely disturbing elctronica going on, Chris Corsano & Heather Leigh Murray were totally intense.
I had been a little worried about how my sketch would fit into the evening but it worked well, not unlike a nice lemon sorbet between a big bowl of cullen skink and a tasty game stew. If that makes sense. Anyway, kudos to Paul at Stereo for putting the bill together.
Cows are just food has a great review up, including a very nice shout out to myself.
In other news, we've confirmed a couple of new From Home shows, namely :-
Friday 17th April @ CCA, Glasgow
Sunday 19th April @ Utropia, London
For those of you that haven't encountered From Home before, it's a 30 minute piece written by Jer Reid for 4 guitars (played by myself, Jer, Robert Johnston and Howie Reeve) with movement choregraphed and performed by Annie Lok
This will be the last times that we'll be performing this piece (I know i said that before but i mean it this time :-))
